Itinerary
Day 1 Athens Meet in lobby of InnAthens Hotel, located between upscale Syntagma Square and trendy Plaka districts, at 3pm. We meet our professional historical guide for an informative city tour including the UNESCO World heritage site of the Acropolis (including the museum), with the incredible architectural achievements of the Pantheon and other masterpieces. We round off the day with a welcome dinner at an outstanding traditional Greek restaurant. Overnight. InnAthens (Dinner)
Day 2 Naxos After breakfast, we transfer for our flight to Naxos Island, the largest of the Cyclades. The afternoon is free to chill into island mode, enjoy the beach, relax at the pool or explore. The lovely hotel is in the perfect location as it is on the beach and only a 10 minutes walk from the old town. Early evening, we stroll into the old port for a brief guided tour of delightful Naxos Chora, (old town), followed by a delicious dinner at a wonderful Naxian restaurant. Day 3 Naxos We head up to the mountain villages of Halki, Naxos after breakfast for a guided hike through the delightful, old villages on this beautiful island. We will experience the “old life” in the olive groves, see shepherds & sheep, visit ancient Byzantine churches, as our expert guide regales us with stories, history & myth! We conclude the tour with a sampling visit of a centuries old, still operating distillery and an olive and olive oil experiential tour. Then lunch with the locals at a delightful taverna. It is a full day today, as later we enjoy a stunning private sunset sail with drinks and snacks, Apollo temple in our view. Overnight Nissaki Beach Hotel (Breakfast, Lunch, Light Supper Snacks)
Day 4 Santorini After we say goodbye to our new Naxian friends, we will experience our first Greek ferry, as we set sail to world famous Santorini. We are met at the port and transported up the steep route to Fira. Here, we begin our hike to Oia, which leads through the picturesque streets of Fira and then continues along the path with stunning views of the Aegean Sea and Caldera! A stop for lunch along the way to bask in the atmosphere of a family owned restaurant with delicious homemade food. We continue to our gorgeous hotel in Oia; each room with its own private plunge pool overlooking the caldera and Aegean Sea. Overnight Ducato di Oia Hotel (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 5 Heraklion, Crete Breakfast is delivered to your room to enjoy while gazing out at the Caldera and the blue Aegean. We are transferred to Fira, the more bustling town on Santorini, for some retail therapy or people watching and lunch before we head down to the ferry port for the final ferry crossing on the trip, to Crete, birthplace of Zeus! Our beautiful hotel is a 10 minute walk from the ferry port. We check in, refresh and meet for a walk through the charming alleys of Heraklion and then dinner at a wonderful restaurant. Day 6 Chania, Crete This morning, we head up to Knossos Palace. Discovered only about 100 years ago, this is an incredible ancient architectural site, showcasing the amazing talent, knowledge and accomplishments of the Minoans. Our guide is extremely well versed and you will leave with knowledge of one of the world’s most advanced, ancient, civilizations.Continue to Chania, but stop for lunch en route at Margarites, an, authentic artisanal village, experiencing some of the world’s best pottery and ceramics! Our hotel, situated in the heart of the old Venetian port of Chania. Brief orientation of the port and old town, followed by dinner. Overnight Porto Veneziano Hotel (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7 Chania, Crete After a leisurely breakfast and some free time, we will board our sleek catamaran for a sail around the stunning waters of western Crete, making a couple of stops to swim, stand up paddle or snorkel. Refreshments & snacks will be served aboard. After this exhilarating water adventure, we will head to our cooking class! The venue is outside in a charming setting. We will prepare, cook and then feast on fabulous, authentic Cretan cuisine! Overnight Porto Veneziano Hotel (Breakfast, light Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8 Chania, Crete All good things come to end, but they can be extended! The trip officially ends after breakfast. There are flights directly from Chania to Athens, as well as various other European destinations. Feel free to stay a little longer on Crete, or venture on. I am more than happy to assist with any travel plans. (Breakfast)
The bottom line, arrival and departure
I can take a maximum of 10 guests per trip, capped because of the private yacht sailings, also we don’t like using big tour buses at Julukaveda Vacations.
The cost per person sharing is $3495 and $4900 for solo. Compared to very similar trips like Classic Journeys, (starts at $7500 double $9000 solo) or Backroads (starts at $7300, double, $10000 solo for only 6 nights) this is an excellent deal!

Once you have committed, there will be a payment plan so you don’t have to pay the balance all at once.
The trip begins in Athens at 3pm and ends in Chania, Crete on the last day, after breakfast.
