Experience the Wonder of the Motherland!

    October 10th - 20th, 2020 (11 days)

  • Mandy Grant of Juluka Yoga Studio invites you to "come home" & experience the thrill of Northern India. The trip includes guided tours of Delhi, the Taj Mahal, exotic Jaipur and McLeod Ganj-(home of the Dali Lama). The second half of the trip is a 5 day/4 night retreat in the picturesque countryside of Himachal Pradesh at the beautiful Basunti Retreat Center.

Here you will be spiritually rejuvenated as you immerse yourself in daily asana practice, meditation and pranayama. You will also have the opportunity to embrace the pure energy of your soul as you connect to the beauty and magic that the area has to offer. There is hiking, swimming in the lake or pool and canoeing.

The essence of Basunti is nature. It sits at the heart of a wildlife reserve in the foothills of the Himalayas. The mystical beauty of the retreat is complemented by the breathtaking panorama. The weather for most of the year lends the retreat to provide much outdoor living, and the architecture includes large verandahs, an open air rooftop yoga space, and also a sacred thatched yoga shala.

Accommodations are 10 comfortable double or twin-bedded rooms, spread over two low rise lodges and the Main House, each with its own en-suite bathroom facilities, veranda or balcony. They all come with extensive views over the gardens or the surrounding area.

  • We will practice yoga twice a day at Basunti. The morning session begins with meditation & Pranayama. Then breakfast is followed by Vinyasa flow postures. We practice noble silence until 8:30am. The soul sundowner sessions will vary, but will include more restorative and yin asana, as well as discussions on topics like stress & anxiety management with yoga, karma yoga etc

Direct flights from the New York area are on United or Air India.  Its best to buy a round trip to Delhi and then a separate add on from Dharamsala (DHM) to Delhi to connect home. The flights from Delhi usually leave very late at night.

It is mandatory to have medical insurance in India. Here is a good site to shop for insurance. Nationwide has a comprehensive plan for around $80 for the land portion. This covers baggage loss, trip cancellation and interruption and medical. I suggest you buy your airline ticket on a credit card like Chase Sapphire or Citi Aadvantage or Amex that includes the airline cancellation insurance. This way you don’t need to buy extra insurance for airfare.
